All my life I was told that if you work hard; be responsible, reliable and honest; and earn a degree you will have nowhere to go but up.
Somewhere along the line, that message was deemed obsolete.
I wish I could help both of the women. Unfortunately I am in the same boat as both of them, and I never have been so scared in life as I am now.
This quote by President Kennedy keeps running through my mind: “If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”
The quote was about foreign policy; it is a shame that it now applies to our own situations here in America.
Maybe one day this quote will become obsolete, not because we have lost but because we succeeded.
