I was (darkly) amused by the subtitle in Kathleen Parker’s column criticizing Dan Rather: “It is one thing to make an honest mistake, but knowingly using flawed information to advance a story is totally beyond the pale” (Commentary, Sept. 29).

Substitute the word “war” for “story” and you have an infinitely more serious critique–one Parker will never make.
