The Oct. 5 editorial “The House takes aim at D.C.” is correct that it is unfortunate that people of the District of Columbia are not trusted to make decisions about their own safety. Local law both there and here forbids the ownership of the most effective means of protection available.
The editorial writer may wish to research the history of gun ownership and crime statistics. The writer’s personal opinion merely expresses the writer’s own irrational fears and lack of respect for others’ constitutionally protected rights.
