The freshman from Pennsylvania led an 87-yard drive to beat Minnesota. He has thrown 11 TD passes and ranks third in passing. He has thrown seven interceptions, but this is a star growing before our eyes.
Drew Tate, Iowa

The sophomore from Texas, who first committed to Texas A&M, has completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,010 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions while operating behind an inexperienced line and handing off to the No. 4 tailback because of injuries. He’s fourth in the conference in passing.
Bryan Cupito, Minnesota
B-
The sophomore from Cincinnati lost half a grade at Michigan. Runs the Gophers’ ground-oriented attack well and has passed for eight touchdowns with just one interception.
John Stocco, Wisconsin
B-
Badgers are last in the conference in passing but tied for first in the standings. Stocco, a sophomore from Richfield, Minn., doesn’t make mistakes and doesn’t get sacked. He made some big plays at Ohio State.
Drew Stanton, Mich. St.
C+ A late start because of injury for the sophomore. He’s a run-pass threat whose grade will likely rise as the season goes on.
Justin Zwick, Ohio State
C
Buckeyes fans are clamoring for a replacement, but the Massillon sophomore hasn’t been helped by a weak rushing attack. Zwick has completed 51.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and five interceptions.
