Letter writer Hillary Wenk called for less time to be spent on Halloween activities in schools. While I agree that celebration and planning can be overdone, I hope that schools continue to have joyful rituals that children can look forward to. Experts in early childhood education argue that a child’s positive attitude toward school and learning is a vital component of a successful education. I believe that holiday celebrations and rituals can help children look forward to getting up and going to school.
