Celebrity endorsed clothing lines are all the rage, and everybody’s getting in on the act. The latest entrants in the marketplace: soccer mom Victoria Beckham and mimbo Fabio, according to the New York Post and the Los Angeles Daily News. Which fashionista stands to gain the most? RedEye decides.
THE PRODUCT
A line of suede jackets, pea coats and hooded down jackets for women available at Sam’s Club stores.
“VB Rocks” denim wear, produced in conjunction with clothing label
Rock & Republic.
STAR POWER
The romance-novel cover boy promises to bring his female fans stylish clothing that they can afford.
Well-dressed hubby David Beckham is a big selling point, as is her career with the Spice Girls. All three minutes of it.
BUSINESS SAVVY
The face that Sam’s Club hopes will sell a million jackets actually killed a goose in 1999 when the bird smacked into Fabio during an ill-fated roller-coaster ride in Virginia.
“I’m using my brain for the first time in a long time,” she said.
THE WINNER: Beckham. Her line is coming out in Japan, which once boasted a 10-foot-tall chocolate statue of her husband.
