A feeling of opulence from head to toe marks this season’s stand-out looks. “There are luxe fabrics in terms of tweeds and plaids, embellishments and a lot of fur,” says Ashley Kennedy, accessories director at Lucky Magazine.

– To start, combine fur with sparkle, such as Banana Republic’s faux mink pull-through scarf ($48) and antique-inspired brooches, (starting at $48), suggests Deborah Camplin, Banana Republic’s vice president of non-apparel. Also look for fur-trimmed accents on boots, gloves and jackets.
– Legs look lovely in hose that’s all about pattern and color. Camplin says she likes to pair fur and brooches with textured hosiery, tweed suits and soft leather gloves.
– A stand-out bag in green, burgundy or blue with intricate details like chain handles or exotic materials like python or crocodile will instantly update your look.
Saks Fifth Avenue’s fashion market director Sunny Diego’s pick: A metallic python bag by designer Devi Kroell ($1,500 for a medium size bag and $2,350 for a large version).
– Round-toe pumps in jewel-tone colors are a pronounced departure from pointy of seasons past. Ankle straps are au courant.
– If you can only pick up on one trend for fall, pick some pizazz in the form of a sparkly brooch or glitzy pendant, suggests Thomasine Dolan, Banana Republic jewelry design director. “Adding sparkle makes your clothes look new.”
