Last year the New York Post mistakenly ran an editorial that had the New York Yankees losing Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS to the Boston Red Sox.

This year, it’s baseball’s Web site that got caught looking ahead.

Thesmokinggun.com reported Thursday that fans could access a page on mlb.com’s online store advertising T-shirts celebrating the Yankees’ Game 7 victory over the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS.

The shirts read “2004 back to back American League Champions” and listed it at a price of $19.99. According to the page, the navy blue 100 percent cotton shirt celebrates the Yankees’ “fantastic season” and is the exact one “the Yankees wore in the locker room after clinching the game!”

Thesmokinggun.com posted the gaffe after being alerted by a reader (and Red Sox fan) who had visited baseball’s site, and the store’s T-shirt page was still up as of Thursday evening. Oops.
