This is in reference to the article “Ex-Chicago priest recalls colorful life; At 88, a former South Sider who now resides in California talks of growing up a bootlegger’s son, mixing with mobsters and serving as police chaplain” (News, Oct. 24).
I was glad to see an article about a retired South Side priest who was a police chaplain.
The media seem to make a big deal out of every tiny development in any story regarding the priest sex abuse scandal.
And this has given a very distorted view of the great things most priests do.
It was nice to see a story about a priest who may have had a few more extraordinary experiences than many priests do, but who still is more typical.
