In reference to the story of the 3-year-old injured at Navy Pier, I find it a further example of the disturbing trend in American society to place blame for parental negligence on businesses. It seems as if the role of parent continues to diminish, replaced by an expectation that society is responsible for the day-to-day well-being of children.
