– A V-8-powered Volvo XC90 due in the first quarter of 2005 will have a $45,395 base price, not including the $685 destination charge. The new V-8, a 4.4-liter with 311 horsepower, will team with a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive. Current versions of the XC90 sport-utility use 5- or 6-cylinder engines.

– The powertrain warranty for the Chevrolet Cobalt is five years/60,000 miles, matching that of the Chevrolet Aveo. The warranty is transferable to subsequent owners at no charge. Powertrain coverage on all other Chevrolets is for three years/36,000 miles.

– Honda says the production version of its concept sport-utility truck unveiled this year at the Detroit Auto Show will be called Ridgeline. The new midsize pickup, Honda’s first truck, will go on sale next spring. Derived from a modified Honda Pilot/Acura MDX sport-utility platform, Ridgeline will feature four doors, a 5-foot bed, on-demand all-wheel-drive, side-curtain air bags, stability control and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Pricing has not been set.
