Jack P. Kennedy, age 72, of Homewood, beloved husband of Betsey, nee Robbins; loving father of John (Joanne) Kennedy, Katie (Don) Slench, Patti (Tom) Brand, Mike (Jackie) Kennedy, Liz (Jeff) Wallenfang and Meg (Bob) Kinsella; cherished grandfather of 20; greatgrandfather of two; dear son of the late John and Agnes Kennedy; fond brother of Tom (Mary), Don (Pat) and Dave (Nancy) Kennedy; brother-in-law of Jean and Dave Linderman. Founding C.E.O. and former owner of Electron Beam Technologies in Kankakee, IL. Jack was a man of God, with true faith that was demonstrated by reaching out to those in need. He was a former Board Member of Respond Now, was a Literacy Program volunteer, a PADS volunteer and a 50 year member of the American Welding Society. Jack had a passion for challenge and adventure, which led him to pursue his many and varied interests: skiing, golfing, fishing, boating, travel, flying his own plane and even learning to play the clarinet in later years. But always, family was the most important passion in his life. Graduate of General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. Jack was a 45 year member of Infant Jesus of Prague Church, Flossmoor. Funeral Service Saturday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m. from Ryan Funeral Home, 18022 Dixie Highway, in Homewood, to St. Joseph Church, 17950 So. Dixie Highway. Mass 10:30 a.m. Visitation Friday 3 to 8 p.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests memorials to Respond Now or Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, two charitable organizations important to Jack that help children and families in need.
