The City Council took a step toward possibly creating a tax increment financing district for redevelopment along 95th Street between Interstate Highway 294 and 88th Avenue.

Consultant Beth Ruyle of Lisle-based Ehlers and Associates was hired to investigate the viability of the TIF district. She will be paid up to $25,000 for her work.

Last month, the council hired a land planner to develop ideas for improving the streetscape along 95th Street while encouraging new businesses to move to the area.

The TIF would be the first in Hickory Hills.
