Marcellus Sommerville scored 27 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and stole the ball three times Tuesday as Bradley beat Loyola 64-62.
Trailing by two at the break, Loyola (1-1) opened the second half with a 17-4 run to lead 48-37 with 14:55 left in the game.
Loyola led 62-59 with 38 seconds to go, but Bradley (2-0) closed with a 5-0 run. After a Sommerville steal, sophomore guard J.J. Tauai split a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to cut the gap to 62-61.
After Blake Schilb missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 11 seconds remaining, Tony Bennett was fouled on his drive to the basket with 2.4 seconds to go. He sank both free throws around a Loyola timeout to give the Braves the lead, 63-62..
DaJaun Gouard led Loyola with 18 points, four rebounds and eight assists.
