I am 52 years old. When I was in high school, which was a time before abortion and birth control, teen pregnancy was rare. Abstinence was taught in schools because that was all there was. Society frowned on promiscuity. Society disliked supporting unwed moms.

Since the ruling on abortion and since birth control, teen pregnancy has greatly increased .

I have come to disdain the pro-choice/pro-abortion position and “Don’t teach abstinence to teens” that I once upheld. The big question I ask over and over is what did the women’s movement give me freedom to do? It seems to have given me permission to have sex whenever I like, as did many of the men we were taught to disrespect and who are rejoicing over women’s willingness; get pregnant using birth control sooner or later; abort sooner or later.

So why? So marriage could have a 50 percent no-fault divorce rate, leaving children poor and uninsured. Wow! Have we come a long way baby!
