In the 1940s and ’50s, my grandparents annually took my mom and her sister and brother to see Santa at Marshall Field’s on State Street.
Growing up, I, too, along with my sister and cousins, experienced the yearly excitement of entering the Cozy Cottage to present Santa with our lists.
This Christmas season, 23 of us, three generations strong, including my own son, will gather beneath the Walnut Room’s great tree.
