My family and I were at O’Hare International Airport, waiting for our plane to Orlando, Fla., to come on New Year’s Eve. Since this was going to be my first plane ride, I was restless and couldn’t stop jumping up and down. Finally it was 11 o’clock and my family and I boarded the plane. I could hardly wait to get to Orlando, and especially Disney World. Thus was my first-time ever on a plane and I practically ran to our seats.
My mouth dropped open when we were in the air. Everything looked so small! I could see all the buildings in Chicago and they looked like molecules.
As we crossed each state, I thought to myself, this sure beats driving!
We finally landed in Orlando. It felt good to be in hot, sunny Florida during January.
Our first theme park was EPCOT. I wasn’t totally excited since I had wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom, but my mother insisted that we go to EPCOT. Since it was New Year’s Eve, everybody, and I mean everybody, was blowing these truly obnoxious horns. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then we made our way to the fireworks. There were all these really cool fireworks and there were many amazing colors that blended into the dark sky. Plus the music in the background was beautiful. I thought to myself, I guess my mother was right after all, since this was a great first experience at Disney World.
Before my family and I went to Disney World, my mother had been in the hospital. She had gotten out a couple of months before our vacation. Our vacation to Disney World was like a celebration that my mother had gotten out of the hospital feeling good.
