The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) system needs to be changed. But we all know that this is not going to happen due to the contract that will keep this embarrassing and useless playoff system around for another couple of seasons. There is a controversy each year over who will play in the national championship. Then there was the situation that occurred last year when the championship was shared between Louisiana State University and the University of Southern California. A tie is inexcusable for one of the nation’s most respected championships. Each year you can count on a situation where a deserving team should play in the championship, or a different BCS bowl, but was cut short and left out of a one of those bowls. College football needs to change its playoff format.
