With a 10-1 regular season record, Cal had hoped to land a BCS bowl bid. But Thursday night, the Bears were stunned 45-31 by the air attack of Texas Tech at the Holiday Bowl.
Also Thursday:
– Aaron Polanco ran for three touchdowns and passed for another, and Navy capped the academy’s best season in 99 years with a 34-19 win over New Mexico in the Emerald Bowl.
– Boston College kicker Ryan Ohliger ran for a touchdown on a fake field goal as the Eagles beat North Carolina 37-24 in the Continental Tire Bowl.
