Illinois is redesigning driver’s licenses for those younger than 21. They will be a vertical rectangle rather than the current horizontal design. The license is designed to make it easier for bartenders and salesman to identify those who are underage for alcohol consumption. Drivers now younger than 21 will be able to keep their current licenses. Other changes include bolder versions of the “under 18” and “under 21” lettering on the licenses.
