Richard Gere is urging Palestinians in a TV commercial to vote in Sunday’s election to find a new president to succeed Yasser Arafat. Many Palestinians, however, say they have never heard of the actor and were even less interested when they were told Gere’s an American. “We don’t need the Americans’ intervention,” Gaza soap factory worker Manar an-Najar told Reuters on Wednesday. “We know who to elect. Not like them–they elected a moron.”
