The Federal Railroad Administration is requiring all freight locomotive and rail cars to install reflective materials to make them more visible and reduce collisions at gate crossings. Under the policy, set to take effect March 4, railroads must install yellow or white reflective materials on existing locomotives by 2010 and freight rail cars by 2015. The rule applies immediately to new locomotives and freight cars.
