Days until kickoff: 11
Huge Patriots news: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is suing General Motors Corp. for allegedly using his likeness in an ad after his contract with the carmaker expired. Don’t forget: GM’s Cadillac is a Super Bowl sponsor and is slated to give a new car to the MVP the day after the game.
Huge Eagles news: As the NFC representative, they are the home team, will use the west bench, and get to choose whether they wear their colored or white jerseys.
Off the beaten path: Every year since 1987 the Super Bowl MVP has filmed a commercial after the game where he shouts, “I’m going to Disneyworld!” But Disney says it’s focusing on other campaigns and won’t do it this year.
Interesting and completely irrelevant tidbit: Patriots defensive end Richard Seymour launched his new Web site, big-sey93.com. His hobbies include shooting pool.
Breathless T.O. update: Philadelphia’s trainer said Owens plans to continue rehabbing his injured ankle in an attempt to play in the Super Bowl.
Today’s opportunistic marketing maneuver: According to a survey of 1,500 people, Domino’s pizza says 35 percent of respondents eat about three slices of pizza per Super Bowl while 2 percent say they eat a whole pizza.
A quote of note: “We have playmakers all over the field. Before the snap we’ll say, ‘Who’s going to make the big play?’ And guys are saying, ‘I’m making it! I’m making it!’ “
