Park Ridge voters will be asked this spring whether they want a new swimming pool or recreation center at Oakton Park.
The Park Ridge Recreation and Park District Board voted Wednesday to place the advisory questions on the April 5 ballot.
Voters will be asked to weigh in on a $13 million aquatic center and an $11.5 million recreation center and field house for the park on Oakton Street near Busse Avenue. The results will give future park commissioners a better idea of which project residents are willing to support, said board President Robert Trizna.
The project favored by voters would be incorporated into a larger upgrade of Oakton Park that will include a miniature golf course and an addition to the ice arena.
The cost for the upgrade of the park is estimated between $16.9 million and $19 million and will be subject to approval by a binding referendum
