Legend has it, there’s a rite of passage in rock called “The Bono Talk.”

As Spin magazine tells it, Nirvana, Hole, Radiohead and the Strokes all got The Talk at one time or another–a career advice seminar given by the U2 singer himself.

Well, the Killers wanted that talk, too, and they were expecting as much when they met the man in November at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. What they got instead, they told Spin, was one buzzed Bono.

“He was pretty drunk,” Killers singer Brandon Flowers said.

Added drummer Ronnie Vannucci, “He did drape his arm around me and say, ‘Spare us the interesting second record.’ “
