Bruce M. Cole, 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Hyde Park. After serving in the Army Medical and Signal Corps during WWII, he began his career with the YMCA, eventually becoming Vice-President of the Metropolitan YMCA’s of Chicago. During his long and well-deserved retirement he kept busy writing letters to family, friends and his retired executives association, and book reviews for his local church newsletter. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty; sons, David, Christopher and Nicholas; and eight grandchildren. A Memorial Service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 at the Hyde Park Union Church, 5700 South University Avenue, Chicago. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Augustana College of Sioux Falls or the University of Chicago.
