Helen Simpson Gore, 84, born at the Mill of Rathven, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland, beloved wife of the late Frederick Peters Gore; loving mother of Maureen (Jesse Leighton) Gore, Andrew (Ann Druecker) Gore, Charles (Laila Leikvold) Gore and Jeanie (Earl) Frye; grandmother of Elizabeth, Jon, Gavin, Molly, Dylan, Malcolm, Ian, Erik, Louisa and Isabel. An accomplished pianist, Helen met Lt. Gore in London where she served in the British Government’s Foreign Office during the Battle of Britain. Married in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1945, she returned to the U.S. with Frederick and later moved to the Chicago area. She raised her family in Park Ridge and later Inverness. She spent her last years in Lincoln Park. Visitation Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. at Hallowell and James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Family and friends to gather on Saturday at the Saints Faith, Hope and Charity Church, 191 Linden St. Winnetka. A visitation will continue at church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
