Ted H. Hull, 77, a former resident of Libertyville and Inverness, died January 7, 2005 at his home in Waverly, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Ted was born June 25, 1927, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of the late T. Harold Hull and Loraine H. Hull. Ted graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Illinois, and then from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with a B.A. in Economics in 1950. Prior to attending Carleton, Ted served in the United States Navy for just less than one year at the end of World War II. Soon after graduating from Carleton, he was drafted into the United States Army and served two and a half years in Korea.Ted worked as a Vice President for Safeco Insurance Company in Seattle, Washington, and then for Northbrook-based Allstate Insurance Company where he was a Vice President and Corporate Officer and Senior Vice President of Allstate’s Northbrook Property and Casualty Company. Ted received the C.P.C.U. designation in 1965. He also served as Chairman of American Nuclear Insurers (ANI). He retired from Allstate in 1986.Ted moved to Waverly, Ohio in 1990. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan H. Hull, who he married on Valentine’s Day in 1951. Ted and Joan met while attending Carleton College. Ted is also survived by his four children, Stephen T. Hull, Carolyn B. Woodworth, Barbara H. Riesen, and Andrew H. Hull; by his seven grandchildren, Karl, Erich, Christina, Sara, Hilary, Katherine, and Alison; and by his brother Robert Hull and Robert’s wife, Becky, of Waverly. We will remember Ted for his quick wit, his big heart, and the twinkle in his eye.A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 16, in Waverly, Ohio.
