Robert E. Lane, M.D., born Aug. 21, 1922 in Hazard, KY, died on Jan. 30, 2005 at the home of his daughter, Lisa Grens, in Manitowoc, WI. Dr. Lane served in the Army as a Captain aboard a transport ship in the Pacific Theater during World War II and received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 1946. For many years as a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, he served on the staffs of Northwestern University and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene; and his son, Jim. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa; son-in-law, Paul; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Melissa; and grandchildren, Robin, Sandy, Ryan and Alexis. Burial will take place at his family gravesite in Gadsden, AL.
