Euphemia “Phemie” Marchuk, 82, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Alden Alma Nelson Nursing Home in Rockford, IL after a long illness. Phemie graduated from the University of Illinois in 1943. A successful career woman, she worked for Gillette in Chicago. Later, she joined Sears and worked in the lab at the Sears Tower at the time of her retirement. A beloved and generous aunt, great-aunt and great-greataunt, she will be truly missed by her many nieces and nephews, Mike Friske of Rockford, Doug (Missy) Friske of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeff (Janet) Marchuk of Plano, TX, Jon (Kathy) Marchuk of St. Charles, Gary Marchuk of Elgin, Lesley (John) Talty of Keller, TX and Russell Marchuk. Survivors also include her brother- in-law, Walter Friske of Elgin, IL; and Grace Marchuk of Orland Park, IL. Predeceased by her sister, Eva Friske; brothers, Andy and Wesley Marchuk; sister-in-law, Joan Marchuk; and parents. The family would like to thank the staff at Alden Alma Nelson for their compassionate care of Phemie. Special thanks to Mariam, Jo Ellen, Amy, Elizabeth and Lisa K. Also, many thanks to Phemie’s caregivers, Cathy and Tom Wilcox of Rockford. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Illinois at Perry Chapel, Rockford, IL, 815-262-6202. A private graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL, will be held at a later date.
