Chicago: Clouds gradually thicken today while south winds try to continue warming. The cloud cover most likely holds the high for the day at or just under 50(degrees). A little sun could send readings quickly into the middle 50s. Rain should spread into the area later this afternoon and overnight.

HIGH: 49

LOW: 40

Note: Predicted high and low temperatures on the Tribune weather page are chronological–the “high” refers to the maximum reading expected during the day and the “low” is the minimum reading expected the following night.
