Winifred J. Powell, nee Whittaker, age 65, at rest Jan. 31, 2005, beloved wife of James A. Powell; dear daughter of Ella V. Jones (the late Robert) and William Whittaker; loving sister to Ruby (Roy) Ray; fond niece of Flora Porter; devoted mother to Andrea Anderson, nee Vance, of Elgin, IL, Karen Harris, nee Vance, of Melrose Park, IL and Darryl Powell of Blue Island, IL; dear stepmother to Kathy (James) Gary and Andrea Powell. She leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren, including Kyia Vance, who was raised as a daughter; six great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in Nashville, TN “Wini” raised her family in Markham, IL. She was an employee of the Chicago Postal Service for 25 years, after which she retired to Louisville, KY.
