Why spend the Chicago winter inside? There are several ice skating rinks in the city:
– Daley Bicentennial Plaza, 337 E. Randolph St., charges $4 for admission and skate rentals. The rink is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m., weather permitting. 312-742-7650.
– McCormick Tribune Ice Rink at Millennium Park , 55 N. Michigan Ave., is free to the public with skate rentals for $7. The rink is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through March. 312-742-5222.
– Midway Plaisance Park, 1130 N. Midway Plaisance, has free admission weekdays and charges $5 on weekends. Skate rentals are $3. The park is open noon to 7 p.m. until Feb. 27. 312-745-2470.
– Riis Park, 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., is free to the public with skate rentals for $5. The rink is open from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until Feb. 27. 312-746-5735.
– Rowan Park, 11546 S. Avenue L, has free admission and skate rental for $5. The ice rink is open from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until Feb. 27. 773-646-1967.
