I loved the headline “Bush aims to tighten belt” (Page 1, Feb. 8).
Unfortunately, as accompanying Tribune stories pointed out, the belt being tightened is not his nor that of any of his wealthy friends. All the tightening is on low-income citizens without political clout.
Also it does nothing to seriously address the enormous deficit hole the president has dug, a deficit caused more by lost revenue rather than increased spending.
