The redheaded menace is back.
Oak Park native Kathy Griffin got a reprieve from the E! Entertainment Television brass and will work the preshow coverage Sunday at the Grammys–and at the Oscars on Feb. 27.
Hollywood-watchers wondered if the brazen comic would be canned after she pushed the boundaries of propriety with her barbs at the Golden Globes. She joked that 10-year-old actress Dakota Fanning had gone into rehab, asked Jeffrey Tambor of “Arrested Development” if he had any “weed” and asked Michael Chiklis of “The Shield”–in front of his wife–if he ever had gotten a hooker at a hotel.
But after a minor hubbub, mostly from fellow E! interviewer Star Jones Reynolds, all seems to be forgiven.
“Kathy’s razor-sharp wit and amazing comedic timing make her a great addition to E!’s award show coverage,” says Coleman Smith, an E! senior vice president. “We’re pleased to welcome her back … and look forward to experiencing her unique humor and offbeat personal observations.”
That must be Hollywoodese for “Star Jones is a snoozapalooza.”
