Reggie Jackson is frustrated his offer to buy the A’s was not accepted even though his group was willing to pay $25 million more than Los Angeles real estate developer Lewis Wolff for the franchise.

A’s co-owner Steve Schott said that the offer from Jackson’s group came after he and partner Ken Hofmann already had an agreement to sell the team for a reported $175 million to Wolff, the team vice president for venue development.

– Right-hander Roy Oswalt and the Astros avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $16.9 million contract.

– Kenny Rogers, 40, apparently wants a two-year contract extension from the Rangers and the 18-game winner reportedly might retire if he doesn’t get one, the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reported.
