So this VD weekend you’re not about taking out your sweetie to some romantic dinner. You’re all about staying in (wink, wink). But, folks, you cannot live on snuggles alone. Our suggestion: Impress your date with a goodie bag from a spot that hasn’t even opened its doors yet. One of the city’s top pastry chefs, Mindy Segal, gives you the chance to get an early taste of her soon-to-open “urban cafe and dessert bar,” Hot Chocolate, with a special Valentine’s Day take out-only menu. Woo your honey with six-inch tartlets: passion fruit meringue ($10), chocolate souffle ($12) or caramelized apple and brown-butter custard ($10). There are also assortments of cookies, bars and cakes available, all gussied up with fancy wrapping. But why not break out the big gun: banana brioche pudding for two with hot fudge ($18). We go gooey just thinking about it.
