People can get an up-close look at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory Sunday.

“We need people to get the tickets in advance so that we know how many guests to plan for,” said Spencer Pasero, education program leader, adding that there is no limit on how many people can attend.

Held for the first time at Wilson Hall, the landmark tower in the center of the complex, the open house from 1 to 4 p.m. will include three “cryogenic shows” featuring the uses of liquid nitrogen; hands-on science activities geared to children in 5th through 8th grades; appearances by Albert Einstein and Enrico Fermi impersonators; a discussion of neutrinos, and a video presentation about the natural prairie maintained on the grounds. Visitors ages 10 and older will be able to tour two of Fermilab’s five particle accelerators, and physicists will be on hand to answer questions.

To get tickets, call Nancy Lanning at 630-840-5588 or e-mail edreg@fnal.gov.
