With the NHL season on the verge of being canceled, New York Islanders center Alexei Yashin became the latest player to bolt for Russia, signing with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Monday. Last week Dany Heatley of the Atlanta Thrashers signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Superleague. Yashin, 31, played for Dynamo Moscow before being selected second overall in the 1992 draft by the Ottawa Senators.
