I see that Ben Altman and I agree on one thing in his piece. I agree that the ideas of evolution do matter. Evolutionists assume, a priori, that there is no Creator. Rather, everything came from nothing plus time plus chance.

Consequently Altman will answer metaphysical questions–the whys and hows–quite differently than, let’s say, an orthodox Christian.

Altman loftily states, “Institutions that teach profound, non-doctrinal ideas, as well as how to think critically about them, should be similarly common [as churches are]. Public schools should be those institutions.”

Boy I wish that were true. I wish evolution was not taught in its current dogmatic fashion in the schools. I wish that evolution was taught within the strict limits of science. I wish that the ever elongating tentacles of evolutionary philosophy would cease to dictate to us its bankrupt explanations for everything and anything that happens, including our sex lives, morality and what goes on in those darn churches.

Altman laments the effect of not having to think. A student being taught evolution could not agree more.
