John G. Stankey, age 84, passed away Feb. 12 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. He had fought in the Battle of the Bulge as an Army Platoon Sergeant during WWII. Husband of the late Evelyn, nee Battaglin; brother of the late Betty and Edward Stankey; beloved uncle of 11; and great-uncle of 15. A lifelong resident of Chicago’s Roseland and West Pullman neighborhood, he had attended Fenger High School. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (US Rt. 30, 3 blks.
