Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Yes, the third season of “Chappelle’s Show” is taking a long time to get on the air, but no, it’s not because of writer’s block.

So says Comedy Central, which is standing by its $50 million man, Dave Chappelle, the New York Post reports. A network spokesman shot down rumors that Chappelle and his writers are struggling to come up with new material. The Post reported a few months ago that Chappelle and his team got a “late start” on writing after the comedian contracted a case of walking pneumonia in December.

“The notion that we had a hard and firm date of production is just not the case,” the spokesman said. “If Dave needs an extension, we’ll give him an extension. Our feeling all along is we’ll do it when Dave is ready.”
