Interesting read in RedEye today. Being multiculti myself, I can totally relate to the people you spoke with and, like David Stephens, I have faced more internal discrimination within minority groups than external. (Most would assume it’s the other way around). I think the most important thing for people of multicultural backgrounds to realize is that we don’t have to try to identify ourselves with a single existing culture but rather can embrace several and also create our own distinctive one. At any rate, thanks for sharing our point of view! Also, your story complimented the AP story on multicultural advertising quite nicely and put a local spin on things–great thinking!
