I’m amazed and appalled that you wrote such BS. Cecilia Boyd and others like her are kidding themselves. When we blacks see someone like them, all we see are light-skinned blacks, and that’s the same thing whites see. Mixed-race people have been around ever since white plantation owners raped black slaves. People who now identify themselves as “mixed-race” actually are trying to distance themselves from their black part; they know that there are more opportunities (and acceptance) for them the lighter they are. Talk to kids at Dunbar and DuSable High Schools and you’ll hear them say, as we used to: “If you’re black, stand back; if you’re brown, stick around; white is just right.”
