Sol H. Tobin, age 80, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, beloved husband of the late Caroline; beloved son of the late Hayman and the late Fannie. Mr. Tobin was born in Chicago on Sept. 3, 1924. At age 17, he enlisted in the Army and served as a Technical Sergeant in both Europe and the Pacific during World War II. Until his retirement in 1989, Mr. Tobin had been an insurance salesman and executive with the Swift Insurance Company, the Equitable Life Insurance Company and Western and Southern Life Insurance Company. He always had a smile on his face, a ready joke for the telling, and wherever he went strangers became instant friends. He is survived by daughter, Neala and son-in-law, Bill Sillman; son, Myles and daughter-in-law, Carol. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice and Rose; and his brother, Irwin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Associated Talmud Torahs of Chicago, 2828 W. Pratt Blvd., Chgo, IL 60645.
