Charles “Ole Cuz” Turner, age 88, of Hammond, passed away at Community Hospital in Munster on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005. Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife, Verna Louise. He is survived by his son, Jerry (Clara Jeannette) Turner; grandchildren, Catherine (Joseph) Becerra, Crystal (Dave) Bixenman, Charlene (Mark) Shawver, Candice Turner, Charles J. Jr., Calvin Turner and Cassaundra Turner; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Joanna) Turner; favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews. Charles was a member of the Pipe Fitters Local 597 in Chicago for 32 years. He was a bus driver for Shoreline in Hammond from 1943 to 1946. He was truly loved and will be missed by all. Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (one mile south of Rte. 30), Schererville, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Johnnie L. Johnson officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
