Violet Helen Larson, nee Matha, age 90, of Batavia, formerly of Chicago, died Thursday at the Michealsen Health Care Center in Batavia. She was born March 25, 1914 on Chicago, IL. Violet was the daughter of Agnes Soyak and Albert Matha, born and lived in Chicago for 87 years. She attended Lindbloom High School. At the age of 68 she got her first drivers license and at 80 her first passport. Violet loved to travel not only locally but also to Hawaii, Mexico and Paris just to name a few of her destinations. She loved the outdoors especially gardening and walking. Before her retirement she was employed by the Chicago Barber Union for 35 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Larson Bloomquist of Palatine and Kimberly (Charles F.G.) Kuyk of Wayne; three grandchildren, Paul E. (Susan) Bloomquist III, Courtney (Michael) Bloomquist Gregory and Caitlin Jordan Kuyk; four greatgrandchildren, Megan and Paul Bloomquist IV, Aidan Paul and Delany Kathleen Gregory; also, a nephew Douglas Stephen Benson, her devoted nephew and loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; and two sisters, Evelyn Matha Benson and June Matha. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles. Interment will be at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
