This is regarding Tribune columnist Mary Schmich’s “Coming to grips with abortion’s new vocabulary” (Metro, Feb. 18). Schmich’s belief that the fetus is a human life does not stop her from supporting abortion. By what principle, then, can she deny infanticide to a woman who wishes to terminate her baby when “there are tragic conflicts of life with life”? And who decides when such conflicts justify the killing of an innocent person?
