Bravo to “The Simpsons” creators for showing us the simple humanity of civil marriage equality. And for serving that up with a healthy dose of humor. (“Toon out,” Feb. 21)
Given the history of these characters blasting sacred cows, why did the network honchos post a parental advisory? Has that homosexual agenda watchdog, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, added “The Simpsons” to “Postcards from Buster” as programming perhaps unfit for discriminating religious bigots?
All readers are reminded that what we gays are asking for is equal access to a civil contract. This would in no way impact religious institutions’ ability to set standards for marriages performed by their clerics, although persons outside of those organizations are not obliged to agree with antigay teachings.
