John Xamplas, 87, longtime Northcenter resident, retired Chicago Park District and independent produce wholesaler, WWI Army vet, youthful baseball star, passed away peacefully February 23, 2005. Beloved husband of the late Bridget, nee Shanahan; cherished father of Antoinette (David) Kujawa of Hoffman Estates, Gust (Tamara) Xamplas of Chicago and the late Patrick (Carol) Murphy; very proud and loving grandfather of ten; great-grandfather of fifteen; dear brother of Catherine, Irene, Peter, Connie, and Anna Marie. Memorial Mass with military honors Saturday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2215 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago.
